Donation from Sol og Strand and Kjeld Sol og Strand Foundation to provide Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud with a new electric van
Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud is one of ten charitable organizations that will now receive DKK 100,000 each from the commercial fund that owns Sol og Strand . The money will go towards the purchase of a new electric van, so that Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud can more easily help even more people at a time when inflation is hitting vulnerable families hard.

North Jutland Food Surplus
Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud distributes surplus food from food companies in northern Jutland to families in financial need. And that need is growing rapidly in a time of inflation, high food prices, and high energy prices.
That is why Bente Schjødt, founder and daily advisor at Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud, is delighted that the organization is now receiving a donation of DKK 100,000 from the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation.
"We are so happy to receive this help. We cannot exist without help from foundations," says Bente Schjødt.
"Distributing food is a highly topical issue. We have high inflation, high food prices, and high energy prices. At the same time, we have war in Europe and refugees in the country who also need help. We deliver free food to about 100 Ukrainian families in Aalborg and Nørresundby, and we distribute food to about 140 families of many nationalities every week from our warehouse in Aalborg East.
-But we only have one van left. We usually have two, but the old one broke down. So now we have to make do with one – while the tasks are growing. That's why the money from Sol og Strand will go towards the purchase of a new electric van, so that we can once again get out and about in two vehicles and make everyday life much easier, says Bente Schjødt, who founded Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud and still works for the organization.
"HOLIDAYS WITH A GOOD HEART" – SURPLUS FUNDS BENEFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
It is unique in the Danish tourism industry that part of the profits from Sol og Strand's rental of summer houses and holiday homes are converted into support for charitable and local causes.
The chairman of the fund's board, Jens Stadum, is delighted that Sol og Strand's homeowners, holidaymakers, and employees have contributed input to the process:
"We are very proud that, for the third year in a row, we are able to distribute one million kroner to charitable causes. From the applications we receive—and from the feedback we get from last year's recipients of donations from the fund—we can see that the donations make an important difference to many people. Our donations go to organizations that really help many people who are struggling. The money is really needed. And that applies both in Denmark and beyond its borders, says the chairman of the board.
"We can say with a clear conscience that when you take a vacation through Sol og Strand, you are helping to do something good for others. That's what we call 'vacation with a good heart,'" says Jens Stadum.
FOUNDERS OF THE FUND: SOL OG STRAND REMAIN DANISH – AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The founders of Sol og Strand A/S, Margit and Kjeld Andersen, established the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation in 2019.
The couple had a dual desire – namely, to preserve and continue to develop Sol og Strand Danish hands, but also to ensure that the company's profits primarily go to charitable and humanitarian causes.
"We can see that others benefit greatly from the money we channel through the foundation to humanitarian and charitable causes. This is confirmed when we see the long list of qualified applications that have been submitted to the foundation again this year," says Kjeld Andersen.
It has been 43 years since he and his wife Margit Andersen established Sol og Strand .
Margit Andersen adds: "
It is clear that the applications come from organizations that are passionate about making a difference. And that is what matters to us. We are very pleased to see the quality of the work we are donating money to, and we feel really good about being able to help," says Margit Andersen.
