Holidaymakers, homeowners, and employees at Sol og Strand have once again contributed to the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation being able to distribute almost DKK 2.5 million to charitable causes across the country in December.
Earlier this year, the fund supported a number of smaller projects with a total of DKK 1 million. This means that a total of around DKK 3.5 million will have been distributed by the end of the year.
"We place great emphasis on supporting projects that create value for people and local communities. From among an incredible number of qualified applicants, we have selected 17 associations and organizations that, each in their own way, make a difference for others," says Jens Stadum, chairman of the fund's board of directors.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the fund, which owns Sol og Strand A/S, has distributed funds. And it is the largest donation in the fund's history to date. Last year, a total of around DKK 3 million was distributed, and this year it has been possible to increase the amount due to positive developments at Sol og Strand itself.
"When you rent out your house through Sol og Strand, vacation in a Sol og Strand, or work for the company, you are indirectly supporting charitable and local causes. That's something that makes us unique in the industry," says Jens Stadum.
Vision lives on
In 2019, Margit and Kjeld Andersen transferred ownership of Sol og Strand A/S to a foundation. Their vision was to future-proof the business they founded 45 years ago and to give back to society through charity. Kjeld Andersen passed away in October, but Margit Andersen is delighted that their shared dream lives on through the foundation.
"It has been both Kjeld's and my dream to be able to give something back. It warms my heart to see how the funds are helping projects across the country," says Margit Andersen.
In connection with the distribution, holidaymakers, homeowners, and employees have had the opportunity to provide input on which target groups the fund should prioritize. This helps to create a strong sense of commitment throughout the entire community surrounding Sol og Strand.

The fund's chairman, Jens Stadum, co-founder Margit Andersen, board member Sisse Fisker, and managing director Per Dam Jensen.
"I see a great sense of pride among our employees in being part of a company that shares its profits with charitable causes," says Per Dam, CEO of Sol og Strand A/S.
Sol og Strand A/S services and rents out approximately 7,000 Danish vacation homes, making it one of the largest Danish rental agencies.
