Fonden Sol og Strand distributes 3.1 million kroner to 41 initiatives
The board of the Fonden Sol og Strand, represented by Margit og Kjeld, has just selected the associations and organizations that will share a pool of around 3.1 million kroner, which the foundation will distribute in the first half of 2026. Among 266 applications, 41 projects have been chosen to receive support.
This year's distribution covers a wide range. The support goes, among other things, to initiatives for people with illnesses and mental challenges, children and young people in vulnerable positions, the lonely, people affected by war and conflict, as well as local initiatives where volunteers work to create communities and meaningful activities.
The support amounts range from 7,500 to 250,000 kroner. Particularly smaller associations and organizations often struggle to secure funding for their work, and therefore they are an important focus area for the foundation.
– There have been many qualified projects, and as we review the applications, we are reminded of the great commitment that exists in civil society. Behind the applications are people and organizations that make a difference for others every day, and it is a great joy to be able to contribute to making even more good initiatives a reality, says the foundation's chairman Jens Stadum.
When the foundation subsequently called around with the message to the various associations and organizations, there were both tears of joy and spontaneous exclamations like: “I am completely speechless, and I just want to scream” and “This is the absolute best call of the day.”
– The reactions remind us of how significant the support is for the people who work every day to help others, says the chairman.
Holiday with a Good Heart
In 2019, the couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen decided to transfer the majority of the ownership of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rentals to a commercial foundation. When guests go on holiday, holiday home owners rent out their houses, and employees go to work in the company, they all contribute to making it possible for Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld to support humanitarian, social, and charitable purposes.
– When we distribute 3.1 million kroner to 41 projects, it is therefore the result of a joint effort. It makes sense and creates a very special joy to know that we are helping to strengthen communities, assist vulnerable people, and create new opportunities through the many projects, says the managing director of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rentals, Per Dam.
In connection with the distribution, holiday guests, holiday home owners, and employees have had the opportunity to provide input on which target groups the foundation should particularly focus on.
What is special about Sol og Strand is that we together create value that extends beyond the holiday experience. Every time a holiday home is rented out, guests, homeowners, and employees contribute to creating the basis for the donations we can pass on. That is what we call Holiday with a Good Heart, says Per Dam.
