Large million-dollar donation for local development
Jammerbugt Municipality receives huge donation from the Margit and Kjeld Sol og Strand Foundation for the realization of the Master Plan for Hune.
Since 2023, Jammerbugt Municipality has been working on a master plan for the future development of Hune. The master plan was launched in December 2024. Central to the plan is the development of a town center with a square and green spaces.
A large part of this area comprises the 14,000 m2 plot, including 1,700 m2 of buildings at Ilsigvej 21, where Sol og Strand has had its head office for many years. The owner behind Sol og Strand, the Sol og Strand Foundation Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld, has decided to donate this attractive property to Jammerbugt Municipality, with the transfer taking place in December 2025 and Sol og Strand moving out by the end of 2027 at the latest.
Donation for the realization of the master plan
The donation is being made to support the implementation of the master plan, and Jens Stadum, chairman of the Sol og Strand Foundation Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld, states:
– For decades Sol og Strand had its headquarters for its nationwide activities in Hune. For a number of years, the company has been working on a plan for how to strengthen both its national and local development and contribute to the local community in Hune, where it has its roots. A comprehensive plan is now in place, and we are incredibly pleased that this donation will help the Hune area continue its development with the realization of the master plan.
– It is a plan that the entire board of the foundation has wholeheartedly supported – including the founders Margit and the late Kjeld Andersen.
Founder pleased with continued development
Margit Andersen is delighted that the Sol og Strand Foundation, Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld, can now give something back to the local community while ensuring the continued development of Sol og Strand:
Kjeld and I have worked together on Sol og Strand for more than 40 years, and for most of that time, our headquarters were in Hune. The world is evolving, and Sol og Strand is Sol og Strand . We were involved in the decision to explore the possibilities of donating Ilsigvej 21 while Kjeld was still alive – and so I am delighted that it has all come to fruition. Kjeld would have been delighted too.
By giving Ilsigvej 21 to the municipality, we can give something back to Hune, which has been the focal point of Sol og Strand's work for many years. The donation can contribute to Hune's continued development, while at the same time allowing Sol og Strand to develop. Both with a new, excellent local office in Hune and with its head office in Aalborg. It will be good for everyone, and that warms my heart.
Enhanced development of Sol og Strand and centrally
Per Dam, director of Sol og Strand , adds:
We are incredibly pleased to be able to contribute to Hune's development. From the outset of our work on the master plan, we have recognized the central importance of our site, and this donation now enables the municipality and Hune to move forward with positive development. At the same time, it Sol og Strand to strengthen our position both locally and centrally.
The Hune-Blokhus area is important to us—it's where we come from, and of course we're staying here. We want to grow further by renting out more vacation homes in the coming years, and we are now looking for new, suitable premises for our local agency in the area, which will serve our many homeowners and vacationers. In recent years, we have opened new offices in other towns such as Løkken and Klitmøller, and we look forward to doing the same here in Hune-Blokhus.
At the same time, we are starting to look for premises for our head office, which we want to locate centrally in the Aalborg area in order to strengthen our ability to recruit employees for continued growth and, in this connection, also be closer to Aalborg as a strong university city with many talented people. We already have many excellent employees from both Aalborg and the local area, whom we are very happy with and whom we want to continue to be part of Sol og Strand. Now we need to find a suitable setting for our head office employees, from which we can continue the positive development we are currently experiencing and which supports all our local agencies with many employees around the country, including here in Hune-Blokhus.

A happy foursome consisting of Christian Hem, Jens Stadum, Mogens Chr. Gade, and Per Dam in front of Ilsigvej 21.
Mayor impressed by donation
Mogens Gade, mayor of Jammerbugt Municipality, says:
We are delighted that there is such a strong desire throughout Jammerbugt to promote local development in our beautiful municipality. That is why we are constantly working on long-term plans, such as the master plan in Hune. The donation from the Sol og Strand Foundation Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld is very impressive in this regard – it is rare for us to see companies contributing such large donations, and we are deeply grateful that the Sol og Strand Foundation Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld will support Hune's development in this way. This commands respect for Sol og Strand and both the finance committee and the municipal council have been happy to treat the donation of Ilsigvej 21 confidentially and agree to accept it. It is a wonderful gift and a tremendous kick-start to the realization of the master plan.
Significant importance for the master plan
Christian Hem, chair of the technology and environment committee in Jammerbugt Municipality, is equally enthusiastic:
– It has been a huge task for the municipality's talented employees to develop the master plan, and many have contributed with input – and there are many wishes for Hune's future development. We had not expected that Sol og Strand could contribute with such great opportunities, so when we first heard from them, we were naturally very interested. With the acquisition of such a central property as Ilsigvej 21, we now have a real opportunity to move forward with our ideas and plans for the central, unifying square and green areas. I am delighted on behalf of both Hune and the municipality's development.
Plenty of time for planning
The transfer of the land and buildings at Ilsigvej 21 to Jammerbugt Municipality will take place in December 2025, and Sol og Strand by the end of 2027 at the latest. This will give both Sol og Strand to find a suitable location for a new local office in the area and a location for its head office in Aalborg. At the same time, it gives Jammerbugt Municipality time to prepare concrete plans for how Ilsigvej 21 will be used in the future to support the realization of the master plan.
