Large million donation for local development
Jammerbugt Municipality receives a huge donation from Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld for the realization of the Masterplan for Hune.
Since 2023, Jammerbugt Municipality has been working on a master plan for the future development of Hune. The master plan was launched in December 2024. Central to the plan is the development of a town center with a square and green areas.
A large part of this area includes the 14,000 m2 plot, including 1,700 m2 of buildings on the property at Ilsigvej 21, where Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental has had its headquarters for many years. The owner behind Sol og Strand, Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld, has decided to donate this attractive property to Jammerbugt Municipality, with transfer in December 2025 and with Sol og Strand's relocation no later than the end of 2027.
Donation for the realization of the master plan
The donation is made to support the realization of the master plan, and the chairman of Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld, Jens Stadum, states:
– Sol og Strand has had its headquarters for its nationwide activities in Hune for decades. The company has been working on a plan for how to strengthen both its national and local development while contributing to the local community in Hune, where it has its roots. There is now a comprehensive plan for this, and we are incredibly happy to be able to help the Hune area move forward in its development with the realization of the master plan through this donation.
– It is a plan that the entire board of the foundation has wholeheartedly supported – this also includes the founders Margit and the now deceased Kjeld Andersen.
Founder pleased with the continued development
Margit Andersen is pleased that Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld can now both give something back to the local community and at the same time ensure the continued development of Sol og Strand:
– Kjeld and I have worked together on the development of Sol og Strand for more than 40 years, and for most of those years with headquarters in Hune. The world is changing, and so is Sol og Strand. We were involved in making the decision to explore the possibilities of donating Ilsigvej 21 while Kjeld was still alive – and therefore I am now happy that it is all coming together. Kjeld would also have been pleased.
– By giving Ilsigvej 21 to the municipality, we can give something back to Hune, which has been the focal point of Sol og Strand's activities for many years. The donation can contribute to Hune's continued development, and at the same time, Sol og Strand can continue to develop. Both with a new good local office in Hune and with headquarters in Aalborg. It will be good for everyone, and it warms my heart.
Strengthened development of Sol og Strand locally and centrally
Director of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental, Per Dam, adds:
– We are incredibly happy to be able to contribute to Hune's development – from the very beginning of working with the master plan, we have seen that our plot is central, and the donation now allows the municipality and Hune to move forward with good development. At the same time, it gives Sol og Strand the opportunity to strengthen ourselves further both locally and centrally.
– The area in Hune-Blokhus is important to us – it is where we come from, and of course, we will stay here. We want to grow further by renting out more holiday homes in the coming years, and we now need to start looking for new good premises for our local office in the area, which will service our many homeowners and holiday guests. In recent years, we have opened new offices in other towns such as Løkken and Klitmøller, and we look forward to this happening here in Hune-Blokhus as well.
– At the same time, we are starting to look for premises for our headquarters, which we will place centrally in the Aalborg area to strengthen our ability to recruit employees for continued growth and, in this context, also be closer to Aalborg as a strong university city with many talents. We already have many good employees from both Aalborg and the local area, whom we are very happy with and who we want to continue to be part of Sol og Strand. Now we need to find good facilities for our headquarters staff, from which we can continue the good development we are in, and which supports all our local offices with many employees around the country, including here in Hune-Blokhus.

A happy quartet consisting of Christian Hem, Jens Stadum, Mogens Chr. Gade, and Per Dam in front of Ilsigvej 21.
Mayor impressed by the donation
Mogens Gade, mayor of Jammerbugt Municipality expresses:
– We are pleased that there is such a strong willingness everywhere in Jammerbugt to create local development in our beautiful municipality. Therefore, we are continuously working on developing long-term plans, of which the master plan in Hune is an example. The donation from Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld is very impressive in this context – it is rare that we experience companies contributing such large donations, and we are deeply grateful that Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld wants to support Hune's development in this way. It earns respect for Sol og Strand – and the opportunity to accept Ilsigvej 21 as a donation has been something we in both the finance committee and the municipal council have been happy to handle confidentially and agree to receive. It is a wonderful gift and a tremendous kick-start for the realization of the master plan.
Great significance for the master plan
Chairman of the technical and environmental committee in Jammerbugt Municipality, Christian Hem is also enthusiastic:
– It has been a significant effort for the municipality's dedicated employees to develop the master plan, and many have contributed with input – and there are many wishes for Hune's upcoming development. We did not expect that Sol og Strand could contribute such great opportunities in this way, so when we first made contact with them, we were of course very interested. With the acquisition of such a centrally located plot as Ilsigvej 21, we truly have the opportunity to move forward with both the ideas and plans regarding the central and unifying square as well as green areas. I am pleased on behalf of both Hune's and thus the municipality's development..
Good time for planning
The transfer of the land and buildings at Ilsigvej 21 to Jammerbugt Municipality will take place in December 2025, and Sol og Strand will vacate by the end of 2027 at the latest. This gives both Sol og Strand time to find a suitable new local office in the area as well as a location for the headquarters in Aalborg. At the same time, it gives Jammerbugt Municipality time to prepare concrete plans for how Ilsigvej 21 should be used in the future to support the realization of the master plan.
