Here, the green oasis at the top of Nørresundby will be filled with art and culture.

– Previously, there were a number of activities here in Skanseparken. There was an ice rink, a water basin, beautiful flower beds, and the Skansepavillon. Now most of it has disappeared, and our wish is to bring the park back to its former glory, says Christel Bang, who, along with Helle Brix Froulund, is behind the event.

Christel Bang has a background as a medical secretary in Brovst and Nørresundby, while Helle Brix Froulund works as a social coordinator in Brønderslev Municipality, where she helps prevent loneliness among people over 60 years old.

The two women share a passion for art and have painted and exhibited their works for years. They met in the artist group Silikone and quickly discovered that they had a common idea that refused to let go.

– We kept returning to the thought of creating something special in Skanseparken. Eventually, we decided to bring the idea to life, says Helle Brix Froulund.

The event was held for the first time last year with great success.

– The atmosphere was completely magical, and we felt how visitors truly felt entertained. It gave us a sense that we could walk on water, says Helle Brix Froulund with a smile.

In the lead-up to the event, there are several meetings for planning, and it all takes place without major hassles.

– We complement each other incredibly well, and we have a lovely partnership, says Christel Bang.

This year, around 30 artists are expected to settle under the tree crowns and transform white canvases into new artworks. Ib Buchholtz, known from De Gyldne Løver, will provide – as last year – French tunes, while DJ TWA from Studenterhuset will entertain with lounge music. Furthermore, composer Viggo Steincke has created a piece specifically for the event, and Café Ordgeist will present Poetry Slam.

– We want to create activities that bring people together across generations, says Helle Brix Froulund.

And community is indeed an important part of the event. 'Butcher Ole' is returning to Nørresundby for the occasion to handle the food, while volunteers from Nørresundby Church will bake cakes and make coffee, which will be sold on the day. The proceeds go to the church's social work, including Christmas assistance.

– It means a lot to us that we can involve local associations and create a day where art, culture, and community go hand in hand, says Christel Bang.
