Thanks to a donation of 7,500 kroner from “Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld”, the association had the opportunity to hold a Christmas event for children who, for one reason or another, are having a hard time.

• We are a volunteer association that relies on donations, and therefore a donation like this is of great significance. We have been able to hold a pampering day for children and parents, says Anne Christiansen, who is a volunteer and fundraiser at Red Barnet Brønderslev.

It became a day where Christmas coziness was truly turned up. Participants had the opportunity to assemble and decorate gingerbread houses, decorate Christmas cookies, decorate Christmas ornaments, and enjoy Christmas treats and a lottery.

Red Barnet Brønderslev, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, holds an annual holiday camp, and in addition, the Family Experience Club invites to activities and outings once a month. Currently, 16 families are taking advantage of the association's offerings.

• The Family Experience Club is a community and a breather for children aged 5-12 years. We always have a large turnout for our trips, which are for the whole family, and we feel a great need to meet in a safe community, says Anne Christiansen.

The association makes extensive use of local opportunities when arranging outings. Among other things, a collaboration has been established with Hedegårdsskolen, which is an ambassador for “Red Barnet Brønderslev”, and trips are organized to places like Klokkerholm Zoo and Lunken in Søheden Plantation, where a nature guide helps find materials for decorations.

In total, 15 volunteers are involved in the association's work, and Anne Christiansen volunteered in 2016, a decision she has never regretted.

• I have an aunt who is part of the association, and when I moved to the region, I thought it was a good opportunity to meet others and find a community, and that has succeeded. At the same time, I am happy that I can help make a difference for others, says Anne Christiansen.
