A total of 17 people participated in the event, which included a festive dinner, a horse-drawn carriage ride, and an outing.

– Thanks to the money from the Sol og Strand fund, we were able to rent a wheelchair-accessible bus that drove us around in the warm September weather. In that connection, we visited Hanstholm and Vorupør – in addition, we had lunch at Stenbjerg Kro and enjoyed coffee and ice cream in Thisted, says Rise Poulsen, who is the treasurer of the association.

She became involved in Hjernesagen's work after her husband suffered a stroke at the age of 54 in 2000. Since then, he has had several strokes, which means he is now dependent on assistance.

The stay in Slettestrand was a welcome opportunity for the participants to get away from home and enjoy a few cozy days.

– We had a really nice trip, where, in addition to a lot of experiences, there was also plenty of opportunity to exchange experiences on how to cope with everyday life as a relative of someone with a late brain injury in the family, says Rise Poulsen.

In addition to the money from Sol og Strand, Sparekassen Danmark in Brovst and Aars Rotary Club have provided financial support for the association's trip.

– We are extremely grateful for the contributions, as it is very important that we receive goodwill from donors – this allows us to keep user fees at a level where everyone has the opportunity to participate, says Rise Poulsen, who lives in Bratbjerg near Tranum.
