The project is backed by Blokhusfonden, which has also played a significant role in constructing a new landmark as a replacement for the previous one that was at risk of collapsing into the sea.

In June, the new landmark, a boardwalk and an observation platform – with the impressive view over the North Sea and the dunes – was inaugurated. Since then, thousands of guests have visited the attraction, which has been named 'Sunset Place', and which is now equipped with cameras that will soon broadcast around the clock. The project's goal is to elevate the communication of Blokhus to a new level and strengthen the area's profile as a modern, nature-based holiday destination.

– Over the past few years, Blokhus has developed into a popular and attractive destination that has something to offer all year round. The foundation's goal is to create new experiences for both guests and residents. Therefore, it has been natural to take the next step and install cameras, similar to those we know from international ski resorts. In this way, we can help cement Blokhus as a high-class international destination, says Karl Korfits, board member of Blokhusfonden.

The project aims to give both locals and visitors the opportunity to experience Blokhus – no matter where in the world they are. Initially, a camera has been installed that films the sea to the north, and later another camera will be set up that films to the south.

– The cameras will show live images of the weather, the waves, and the light – thus providing a snapshot of Blokhus throughout the year. For example, if you are in Aalborg, you can see what the weather is like in Blokhus before you leave home. Similarly, fishermen can check the conditions before they prepare their boat, says Peter Dahl, administrator of Blokhusfonden.

The cameras have been established in accordance with applicable legislation. The final adjustments are still pending, but the expectation is that viewers will be able to follow the current weather situation via the website 'webblokhus.dk', where a local weather forecast will also be displayed.
