Sol og Strand is unique in the Danish holiday home industry because, Sol og Strand 2019, Sol og Strand has been wholly owned by the charitable foundation "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld," which distributes the profits from holiday home rentals each year.

Over the past three years, the fund has distributed one million kroner to 10 humanitarian organizations, each of which has received 100,000 kroner annually for humanitarian and charitable purposes.

And as something really special, in March 2022, the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation also gave a total of one million kroner to six Danish aid organizations working in war-torn Ukraine, which was attacked by Russia.

TWO NEW FUNDS TOTALING 3 MILLION – ONE MILLION FOR SMALLER AND TWO MILLION FOR LARGER CHARITABLE CAUSES

Donations will be increased in 2023, says Jens Stadum, chairman of the board of the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation:

Thanks to the positive development of Sol og Strand , we are now able to increase the fund's donations as planned. In 2023, we will increase our donations to charitable and humanitarian causes from DKK 1 million to DKK 3 million. We will do this through two pools:

– One pool, which will contain one million kroner, will be distributed to projects costing less than 10,000 kroner. Applications will open on May 17, and support can be applied for on an ongoing basis via the fund's website. Applications received will be assessed once a month. In this way, the fund can help support many small and often local projects around the country.

– The second pool, consisting of two million kroner, will be distributed to charitable and humanitarian projects over 10,000 kroner. Applications can be submitted via the fund's website from May 17 until the end of September, after which the applications will be assessed and the funds distributed in December. Larger projects can thus apply for support here.

"It is a milestone in the foundation's work that we can now expand the foundation's donations to DKK 3 million in 2023. This makes the entire board proud, because we can also see from the applications we have received in previous years that there are many charitable and humanitarian projects that need support, says board chairman Jens Stadum.
As in the previous two years, all homeowners, holidaymakers and employees at Sol og Strand will be involved Sol og Strand September via opinion polls in assessing the areas that the foundation can support.

FOUNDERS OF THE FUND: SOL OG STRAND REMAIN DANISH – AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE

It was the married couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen who founded Sol og Strand A/S in 1979 – and in 2019 established and transferred ownership of Sol og Strand the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation. And for them, too, the new pools – and the tripling of the fund's donations – are a source of great joy.
Kjeld Andersen says:

– We had two wishes when we created the fund: namely, that Sol og Strand remain in Danish hands – and that the profits should contribute to making a difference for people who are struggling. Both in Denmark and beyond its borders.
His wife Margit adds:

"The fund makes a big difference to many people. This can be seen both in the many applications that come to the fund, but also in the many inquiries we receive from organizations that have received support from the fund. That is why we are so delighted that we can now see that the fund can triple its distributions to charitable and humanitarian organizations, says Margit Andersen.

SOL OG STRAND: HEALTHY GROWTH LAYS THE FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE DONATIONS

Per Dam, CEO of Sol og Strand A/S and member of the board of directors of the foundation that owns Sol og Strand, highlights Sol og Strand's success as a prerequisite for the tripling of the foundation's donations.

– It is a dream come true when the fund can increase its donations to good local, regional, national, and international charitable and humanitarian efforts. All of us at Sol og Strand are Sol og Strand about this.

– But it doesn't happen by itself. It comes from the success and healthy growth that Sol og Strand achieved in recent years, where we have seen progress in both the rental of Danish vacation homes, an increase in the number of vacation homes rented through Sol og Strand and, just as importantly, an increase in satisfaction with Sol og Strand's efforts, both from vacation home owners, holiday guests, and employees, where we have had record satisfaction levels in 2022. This is a commitment, and we know that we must make an effort every day to continue this progress.

"The great thing about this is that the better we do in the future, the more the fund can help others. This is important for those of us who work at Sol og Strand and those who collaborate with Sol og Strand and also important for the many people who, through the fund's donations, can see that Sol og Strand and Kjeld Sol og Strand Fund is making a difference," says Per Dam.

SOL OG STRAND FUND SUPPORTED 16 ORGANIZATIONS IN 2022

In December 2022, the Sol og Strand Foundation, Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld, donated one million kroner to the ADHD Association, Better Psychiatry, the Eating Disorders and Self-Harm Association, the Association for the Support of Mothers and Children, the Christmas Seal Foundation, the Joint Council for Children's Issues, Skyggebørn, Doctors Without Borders, Nordjysk Fødevareoverskud, and the Danish Hyderabad Foundation. All 10 received a donation of 100,000 kroner for their charitable and humanitarian work.
The fund's extraordinary support of DKK 1 million for emergency relief efforts in war-torn Ukraine in March 2022 was distributed equally between Save the Children, Doctors Without Borders, the UN Refugee Agency UNHCR, DanChurchAid, the Danish Red Cross, and UNICEF.
