The Sol og Strand Foundation, Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld, who own Sol og Strand , is supporting the festival with 15,000 kroner, which pleases Birgitte Wormsborg from Kulturhavn Gillelejes Venner.
"We are very grateful for the donation—without financial support, it would not be possible to hold the event with an admission price of 60 kroner, which is at a level that most families can afford," she says.
Kulturhavn Gilleleje, Gilleleje Library, Kulturhavn Gillelejes Venner, and Gribskov Kulturskole are behind the festival, which in previous years has been a popular event for children and adults alike.
"The festival aims to get children away from their screens and create positive experiences for local residents and tourists in the municipality," says Birgitte Wormsborg.
– We expect 600 paying participants this year, which is our maximum capacity. Last year, we unfortunately had to turn away some people who hadn't secured a ticket.
In previous years, the festival has consisted of small and large concerts. This year, the organizers have decided to scale back the concert activities. Instead, several creative workshops have been arranged to meet the children's wishes.
Last year, we noticed that the children were so absorbed in the creative activities that it was impossible to get them to come to the main stage where the concerts were taking place. That is why this year's festival consists almost exclusively of workshops, with drumming, dance, circus, and theater workshops on stage and a wide range of creative workshops off stage, says Birgitte Wormsborg, who hopes that the festival will help raise awareness of the many leisure activities available in the local area.
– Our goal is for the festival to help spark children's curiosity about different forms of culture and, in this way, create culture enthusiasts in the long term.
