The "Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld" – which is the main owner of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental A/S – has just reopened for receiving applications for support for general charitable and humanitarian purposes. Support of 100,000 kroner can be applied for, and a total of 1 million kroner will be distributed.
This will be the second million distribution from the foundation in 2022 – after the foundation in March exceptionally granted six Danish humanitarian organizations a total of one million kroner for their humanitarian work in war-torn Ukraine.
And just like in 2021, the owners of the 6,500 private Danish summer houses and holiday homes rented out through Sol og Strand in 2022 will be involved in the selection of the target groups for the foundation's donations through a survey.
Also, all Danish and foreign renters of summer houses through Sol og Strand – as well as all employees at Sol og Strand – will have the opportunity to express through surveys which categories the foundation's donations should fall into.
FEEDBACK FROM HOMEOWNERS, HOLIDAY GUESTS, AND EMPLOYEES PROVIDES VALUE
Lawyer Jens Stadum, who is the chairman of the board of Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld, says:
"We started in 2021 to gather feedback from homeowners, holiday guests, and employees at Sol og Strand through surveys. And we are doing it again. The inputs from last year's surveys were very valuable for us on the board when we have to consider the applications we receive," says chairman Jens Stadum.
"Therefore, I, along with the board, look forward to receiving many good applications again this year."
"I know that there are many humanitarian organizations and projects that do tremendous work for other people. And it is an important driving force for me and for the entire board that we, through our ownership of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental A/S, have the opportunity to support good humanitarian causes," says chairman Jens Stadum.
THE FOUNDERS OF THE FOUNDATION ARE HAPPY TO SEE THEIR LIFE'S WORK HELPING OTHERS
It brings great joy to the couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen, who founded Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental in 1979 – and in 2019 transferred ownership of Sol og Strand to the commercial foundation, "Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld."
"It is fantastic if our life's work can help others. That was what we aimed for when we created the foundation. We couldn't wish for anything better than to see the business we created has developed into something as large and beautiful as Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental – and now also the foundation that again this year ensures donations to a number of humanitarian and charitable organizations. It benefits many, and it also warms our hearts deeply," say Margit and Kjeld Andersen in unison.
THE FOUNDATION IS A GUIDING STAR FOR SOL OG STRAND HOLIDAY HOME RENTAL
Similarly, Per Dam, who is the CEO of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental A/S, is pleased that large parts of the profit from the operation of Sol og Strand's rental of summer houses and holiday homes through the foundation's distributions make a difference:
"We are owned by a foundation that consistently shares its profits with projects for general charitable and humanitarian purposes. We are proud of that. It influences our entire organization in everyday life that the better we do it at Sol og Strand, the more the foundation can help others," says CEO Per Dam, Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental A/S.
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE MADE THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE
All applications to the “Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld” must be submitted through the foundation's website ( – fondensologstrand.dk).
It is possible to apply from September 1st until the end of September.
Afterwards, the foundation's board will review the applications in October and November along with the feedback from homeowners, holiday guests, and employees, before the distribution of ten grants of 100,000 kroner each takes place in December.
The health clinic in Burkina Faso was set to close in February 2022, but Fonden Det Nytter has since been able to cover the operating costs.
