The Sol og Strand Foundation distributes two million kroner to initiatives across the country
Another year where holiday guests, summer house owners, and employees make a noticeable difference.
A long list of associations and organizations can look forward to an early Christmas gift from Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit and Kjeld.
The foundation's board has just named 18 recipients who will share a pool of nearly two million kroner. The funds go to initiatives that strengthen people's well-being, local communities, and charitable purposes – in both small and large projects across the country.
– We have received as many as 117 applications from passionate individuals who lift children, young people, the elderly, and vulnerable citizens every day. Among an incredible number of qualified projects, the board has selected a total of 18 that particularly create value for people and the communities around them, says the chairman of the foundation's board, Jens Stadum.

The couple's dream gave birth to the foundation
This is the sixth consecutive year that the foundation distributes funds – and behind the donations lies a very special story.
When the couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen in 2019, after 40 years, transferred the majority of Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental A/S to a commercial foundation, it was to ensure that the company could survive and develop in Danish hands, but also to give back to society through charity.
– I am incredibly pleased to see how projects across the country benefit from the funds. It was Kjeld's and my dream to create a foundation that could make a real difference, and I am proud that the vision continues to thrive – even after Kjeld's death,, says Margit Andersen, who lost her spouse just over a year ago.
Unique ownership structure
The donations have been made possible because holiday guests, summer house owners, and employees indirectly contribute to the foundation's charitable work when they collaborate with Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rental. The majority of the company's profits go to the foundation, which thus has the opportunity to support projects and initiatives that make a positive difference for others. In connection with the distribution, all three groups have had the opportunity to provide input on which target groups they believe the foundation should prioritize.
– What is special about Sol og Strand is that many contribute to our ability to support humanitarian and charitable purposes. By renting or letting a holiday home – or by being employed by the company – one actively contributes to the foundation's work to make a difference. We call this 'Holidays with a Good Heart.' This shared commitment makes us unique and creates pride among both employees and homeowners,, says managing director Per Dam.
