FACTS
"The Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld"
The couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen have successfully operated Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rentals since 1979.
To ensure that the business remains in Danish hands, they decided to transfer their life's work to a foundation that now owns 75 percent of the company. This happened in connection with the company's 40th anniversary in 2019.
Cargo bikes for village communities, Brain Foundation, golf teams for those affected by Parkinson's, experiences for disadvantaged families, water activities for dyslexic boarding schools.
These are just some of the initiatives that “Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld” has recently provided financial assistance to from a fund of one million kroner, aimed at supporting projects under 10,000 kroner.
Another distribution is approaching, and this time funds will be allocated from a total pool of two million kroner, targeted at projects over 10,000 kroner.
Several applications have already been received, but Chairman Jens Stadum hopes that more will take the opportunity to submit an application before the deadline of September 30.
-This is the first time in the foundation's history that we have the opportunity to distribute from a total pool of two million kroner, which allows us to support more applicants, says Jens Stadum, who encourages potential fund recipients to submit an application via Application to the foundation.
The foundation has previously distributed to organizations such as “Doctors Without Borders”, the Christmas Seal Foundation, the ADHD Association, Skovsgård Hotel, Shadow Children, etc.
-Our vision with this foundation is to preserve and develop Sol og Strand in Danish hands, and to help make a difference for others. When you book or rent a holiday home through Sol og Strand, you are supporting important societal initiatives. The owner of the holiday home should of course receive their share, but the majority of the profit goes to the foundation and does not end up with a foreign capital fund or shareholders, says Kjeld Andersen.

-It is incredibly gratifying that we can be midwives to exciting and rewarding projects across the country and hopefully help make a difference for some people, says Margit Andersen.
Holiday guests, homeowners, and employees at Sol og Strand Holiday Home Rentals will have the opportunity to participate in a survey regarding who they believe should share in the foundation's funds for projects over 10,000 kroner. The final distribution will take place in December.
