The Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld is once again open for applications. The foundation is ready with a fund of two million kroner aimed at projects over 25,000 kroner. Additionally, the foundation will distribute around one million kroner throughout the year for projects under 25,000 kroner. And it doesn't stop here. The goal is to double the distributions within a few years.

– The goal in the coming years is to increase the amount available for distribution. Within a short period, the expectation is that the foundation can distribute around six million kroner per year, and that amount will grow further in the long term, says the foundation's chairman Jens Stadum.

– It is very satisfying – not least for the foundation's founders – who have chosen to donate their life's work to a foundation that supports humanitarian and charitable purposes, he continues.

The deadline for applications is September 30, after which the foundation's board will process the incoming applications. In this context, employees, holiday guests, and homeowners will have the opportunity to express which causes they believe the foundation should support.

– Last year, the foundation supported 115 associations and organizations across Denmark, and it is gratifying to see how Margit and Kjeld Andersen's wish to make a difference is realized through the foundation.

In 2024, the foundation distributed funds to, among others, Det Kærlige Måltid, Bedre Psykiatri, Foreningen for Spiseforstyrrelser og Selvskade, Gestus Nord, Ønskeland, Foreningen Enestående Forældre, Kirkens Korshær, Danske Hospitalsklovne, Foreningen Human Rise, ADHD-Foreningen, etc.

Touching stories

Recently, the foundation hosted a spring event at Hotel Koldinghus, celebrating volunteerism, community, and the importance of a strong civil society. About 170 guests – including employees and recipients of donations – attended the day, which aimed to give participants insight into the difference a donation from Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld makes for organizations and associations across the country.

– It was a memorable day, and it was incredibly moving to hear the many donation recipients talk about their work and the importance of support from the foundation. For me personally, it was a great joy to meet recipients of donations and experience how the foundation helps people in need, says Margit Andersen, who, together with her now deceased husband, Kjeld Andersen, founded the foundation in 2019.
