FACTS
Lone Hejlskov
Lone has been employed at Det Nordjyske Mediehus for a total of 19 years, including as a studio host on the TV channel 24Nordjyske. She also worked for Sol og Strand for two years.
The foundation was established in 2019 when the founders of Sol og Strand A/S, Margit and Kjeld Andersen, decided to transfer their life's work to a foundation whose purpose is to support charitable organizations and local causes.
During the fund's lifetime, one million kroner has been distributed annually. Due to Sol og Strand's positive development, it has been possible to increase the amount to three million kroner this year, and the fund's activities are expected to increase in the coming years.
"During the four years that the fund has existed, the number of applications has grown, as has interest in the fund's work, which is very gratifying and incredibly positive," says the fund's chairman, Jens Stadum.
To handle the increasing number of tasks in the fund, the board of directors hired journalist Lone Hejlskov on September 1.
-We believe we have found the right person for the job – Lone Hejlskov was previously employed as communications manager at Sol og Strand and therefore has in-depth knowledge of the founders' dreams and visions for the establishment of the foundation and its purpose, says Per Dam, CEO of Sol og Strand A/S and member of the foundation's board of directors.
A unique opportunity
Lone Hejlskov has been employed at Det Nordjyske Mediehus for a total of 19 years, where she has held various positions, including as a studio host on the TV channel 24Nordjyske.
She also worked for Sol og Strand for two years, a job she left in 2021 to realize her lifelong dream of running a hotel on Djursland with her spouse.
Now, however, she is back in northern Jutland, where she is looking forward to getting started with her work for the foundation.
"It's a job that feels tailor-made for me—it gives me a unique opportunity to work with what I'm passionate about, communication and relationships, and at the same time, it's a job where I, as an employee, can help make a positive difference for others," says Lone Hejlskov.
"I look forward to the dialogue with associations and organizations that apply for funding from the pool and to working with the fund's board," says Lone Hejlskov.
Their life's work is future-proofed
Married couple Margit and Kjeld Andersen are delighted that their vision for their life's work has been realized.
"Our goal with this fund is to ensure that our life's work is preserved and developed by Danish hands, and that the profits from Sol og Strand help support charitable organizations. It is therefore gratifying to follow the fund's positive development," says Kjeld Andersen.
"Since we established the fund four years ago, we have hoped that we could increase the amount we distribute, and we have now succeeded in doing so. We are delighted that our life's work can help make a difference for others," says Margit Andersen.
