"The Sol og Strand Foundation, Sol og Strand Margit and Kjeld, who are the principal owners of Sol og Strand A/S, has just reopened for applications for grants for charitable and humanitarian causes. Grants of DKK 100,000 are available, and a total of DKK 1 million will be awarded.
This will be the second million-kroner distribution from the fund in 2022, following the fund's extraordinary decision in March to award six Danish emergency aid organizations a total of one million kroner for their humanitarian work in war-torn Ukraine.
And just as in 2021, the owners of the 6,500 private Danish summer houses and holiday homes rented out through Sol og Strand 2022 will be involved in selecting the target groups to receive the fund's donations through a survey.
All Danish and foreign tenants of holiday homes through Sol og Strand as well as all employees at Sol og Strand are given the opportunity to participate in opinion polls to indicate the categories in which the fund's donations should be allocated.
FEEDBACK FROM HOMEOWNERS, HOLIDAYMAKERS, AND EMPLOYEES PROVIDES VALUABLE INFORMATION
Lawyer Jens Stadum, who is chairman of the board of the Sol og Strand Foundation Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld, says:
-In 2021, we began gathering feedback from homeowners, vacationers, and employees at Sol og Strand opinion polls. And we are doing so again. The input from last year's opinion polls was very valuable to us on the board when considering the applications we receive, says board chairman Jens Stadum.
-Therefore, together with the board, I look forward to receiving many excellent applications again this year.
"I know that there are many humanitarian organizations and projects that do tremendous work for other people. And it is an important driving force for me and for the entire board that, through our ownership of Sol og Strand A/S, we have the opportunity to support good humanitarian causes," says board chairman Jens Stadum.
THE FOUNDERS OF THE FUND ARE DELIGHTED TO SEE THEIR LIFE'S WORK HELPING OTHERS
This brings great joy to Margit and Kjeld Andersen, who founded Sol og Strand in 1979 and transferred ownership of Sol og Strand the commercial foundation "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" in 2019.
-It's fantastic that our life's work can help others. That was our goal when we created the fund. We couldn't wish for anything better than to see the company we created develop into something as big and impressive as Sol og Strand – and now also the foundation, which again this year is securing donations for a number of humanitarian and charitable organizations. It benefits many people, and it also warms our hearts deeply, say Margit and Kjeld Andersen in unison.
THE FOUNDATION IS A GUIDING STAR FOR SOL OG STRAND
Similarly, Per Dam, CEO of Sol og Strand A/S, is pleased that a large portion of the profits from Sol og Strand's rental of summer houses and vacation homes is making a difference through the foundation's distributions:
"We are owned by a foundation that consistently distributes its profits to charitable and humanitarian projects. We are proud of this. It shapes our entire organization in our day-to-day work: the better we do at Sol og Strand, the more the foundation can help others," says CEO Per Dam, Sol og Strand A/S.
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE FOUNDATION'S WEBSITE
All applications to the "Fonden Sol og Strand Margit og Kjeld" foundation must be submitted through the foundation's website ( – fondensologstrand.dk).
Applications can be submitted from September 1 until the end of September.
The fund's board will then evaluate the applications in October and November, together with the statements from homeowners, holidaymakers, and employees, before the ten grants of DKK 100,000 are awarded in December.
