Bring your friends and family along, and enjoy a summer day with live music and a fjord view. This is the invitation from the organizers behind the traditional music event, which this year takes place on June 13 in Aalborg. Entry is free, and the audience can look forward to a music program featuring five bands on stage.
– We hope the sun shines and that around 3000 guests come to enjoy a great concert and have a fantastic day by the fjord, says Kaare Johansen, who is the chairman of the FjordRock committee and a board member of Lions Club Aalborg.

This is the 27th time that Lions Club Aalborg invites everyone to a day of music and community in Vestbyen. Behind this festive event lies an important social purpose. The proceeds from FjordRock go, among other things, to support leisure activities, social communities, education, Christmas assistance, and other initiatives that can help children and young people in difficult life situations. A team of volunteers with professional backgrounds helps select the families that will receive assistance from Lions Club Aalborg.
– FjordRock helps create surplus to support deserving families as well as aid for children and young people who have been subjected to abuse or live with limited resources. We receive between 50-100 applications each year, and we assess each application, says Kaare Johansen.

The concert is free for the audience and is run solely by volunteers from associations, networks, and Lions members. Through the sale of food and drinks, the surplus is generated, which subsequently goes directly to social initiatives in the local area.
– In the first year, we had a surplus of 8000 kroner. Last year, the surplus was 280,000 kroner, which is encouraging because it means we can help even more children and young people, says Kaare Johansen, who is a trained social worker.
– I have been with Lions Club Aalborg for eight years, and it is incredibly rewarding to be a part of. We have no large administrative costs, so all the funds we raise go directly to those in the local area who need it, says Kaare Johansen, who has just delivered two bicycles to a Ukrainian family so the children can bike to school.

– Donations like the one from Fonden Sol og Strand, represented by Margit og Kjeld, help ensure that we can continue to support children and young people who need help and hope in a difficult everyday life. When local foundations and volunteers work together, we can make a real difference, says Kaare Johansen.
