Who will receive the funds: Sol og Strand ready to distribute money to larger projects
It has been five years since Margit and Sol og Strand Foundation was established, and since then the foundation has helped launch hundreds of projects throughout the country.
It was a heartfelt desire to keep Sol og Strand A/S in Danish hands and to do something good for others that led Margit and Kjeld Andersen to establish a commercial foundation in 2019.
"It has been and continues to be incredibly rewarding that we are helping to do something good for others who are struggling, or that we can help passionate people to realize a project," say Margit and Kjeld Andersen, the couple who established the company Sol og Strand in 1979.
Margit Andersen recently visited Brønderslev Psychiatric Hospital to see for herself the impact that a donation of DKK 200,000 has on patients admitted to the hospital.
This donation has enabled the organization "Hope in Psychiatry" to hold mini-concerts or cultural experiences in open and closed psychiatric wards throughout the country. These are patients for whom a musical experience is a bright spot. I also experienced this during my visit to two wards in Brønderslev, where Anders Graae played and sang – he was good at sensing the mood and creating a safe environment, says Margit Andersen.
Margit Andersen enjoyed seeing how Anders Graae managed to give patients at Brønderslev Psychiatric Hospital a wonderful musical experience.
In 2023 alone, the fund supported more than 70 associations and organizations, and so far this year, 40 projects have received donations. The fund distributes funds from two pools—one for projects over DKK 25,000 and one for projects under DKK 25,000.
"This year, we have the opportunity to distribute a total of DKK 3.5 million from the two funds, which allows us to support more applicants," says Chairman of the Board Jens Stadum, who encourages associations and organizations to submit an application via Application to the fund.

Jens Stadum is delighted that this year it will be possible to distribute a total of DKK 3.5 million from two funds.
The deadline for applications is September 30, after which the fund's board will review the applications received.
Through a questionnaire, homeowners, vacationers, and employees have the opportunity to express their opinion on which causes they believe the fund should support. Last year, the fund supported, among others, Better Psychiatry, Rare Diseases, the Association for Eating Disorders and Self-Harm, the Parkinson's Association of North Jutland, the ADHD Association, etc.
When you book or rent a vacation home through Sol og Strand, you're supporting charitable and humanitarian causes—that's what we call "Vacation with a good heart." I'm really happy that our dream of keeping Sol og Strand, which we've always called our third child, in Danish hands has come true, says Kjeld Andersen.
