Money from the Sol og Strand fund: Soon the children can crawl under the sunshade
Thanks to a donation of 5,000 kroner from “Fonden Sol og Strand by Margit og Kjeld, it is now possible to purchase a sunshade that will provide shelter and shade over the large sandbox at Sindal Privatskole's Børnehus.
The foundation aims to support charitable purposes, and the board has decided to approve the application for funds for the sunshade, which is part of a larger playground project.
– Overall, we are seeking funds to realize our dream of making the children's playground more challenging and exciting, says Niels-Jørgen Pedersen, a board member at Sindal Privatskoles Børnehus.
The goal is for the playground to be more attractive for the nearly 40 toddlers and preschool children at Børnehuset. Therefore, the idea – in addition to covering the sandbox with a sunshade – is to establish balance beams, mooncars, push toys, etc.
– We have a fantastic staff group that manages to meet the children at eye level and create fantastic and, not least, safe days for the little ones, and therefore it pains us as a board that we do not have the capacity to better meet the employees' wishes, says Niels-Jørgen Pedersen, who is pleased with the support from the Sol og Strand fund.
– Our finances are largely tied to the operation of the school, nursery, and Børnehus, and we are therefore dependent on help from foundations if we are to have the opportunity to realize projects such as a playground, he says.
Sindal Privatskole opened in 2011 following Hjørring Municipality's decision to close Hørmested School. Today, there are 111 students at the school, 15 nursery children, and 24 preschool children – Sindal Privatskole and Børnehus is the workplace for around 30 employees.
